Understanding the Notification Log

Each Message Flow in eADM has a dedicated Log tab that records every notification sent from that flow, including those sent manually. This log is essential for auditing and troubleshooting.

To access the log, open the relevant Message Flow and select the Log tab. The log displays four key pieces of information for each entry:

  • Recipient: Who the notification was sent to.

  • Result: The delivery status (e.g., OK or an error).

  • Object: The user account that the notification is about.

  • Timestamp: The date and time the notification was sent.

Interpreting Recipient vs. Object

The distinction between the Recipient and the Object is important for understanding who received the message and why.

Example 1: Notification to a Manager

In flows that notify a manager about an employee, the Recipient and Object will be different.

  • The Recipient is the manager receiving the alert.

  • The Object is the employee whose account triggered the notification (e.g., due to their employment status changing).

Example 2: Notification to an Employee

In flows that send a message directly to an employee, the Recipient and the Object will be the same person.

Troubleshooting with the Log

The Result column is crucial for diagnosing delivery problems. It shows whether a notification was sent successfully or if it failed. In case of a failure, it often provides a specific error message.

For instance, a message might fail if the system cannot find a required value. In the example below, the SMS could not be sent because the user's profile was missing a phone number in the privatePhone field.
