Assigning User Permissions
This guide describes the different methods for granting users permissions to access and operate within the platform.
Overview
Users cannot access the system until they have been assigned at least one permission. New permissions become active for users after the next synchronization cycle completes.
The procedures described here can be used to manage access for various integrated target systems.
Note: Recovering a password via SMS does not require any assigned permissions. It only requires the user to have a mobile number registered in their profile.
Method 1: Manual Assignment for a Single User
Follow these steps to assign permissions to an individual user account.
Search for the user and open their profile.
Navigate to the Permissions tab and click the + icon.
From the dropdown menu, select the groupinghttp://mega.eadm.no .
Choose the desired permission level (e.g., Employee, Manager) and the department the permission will apply to.
Repeat the process if you need to assign multiple permissions for different departments.
Click Save.
Method 2: Bulk Manual Assignment for Multiple Users
Use this method to assign the same permission to several users at once.
From the main menu, navigate to Assign Permissions.
Select all the users who need the new permission.
Click Continue.
Add one or more permissions that you want to assign to the selected users.
Click Continue when you are ready to proceed.
Review the summary to ensure the users and permissions are correct.
Click Continue again to apply the changes and wait for the confirmation message.
Warning: With this method, all selected users must be assigned the permission for the same department.
Method 3: Automatic Rule-Based Assignment
You can automate permission assignments by using access management rules. This is useful for assigning roles based on job titles or department, such as granting the 'Manager' permission to department heads and 'Employee' to all other staff.
Pre-configuration
Before you begin, you must create the necessary rule sets in the system. For example:
A rule that identifies all department heads.
A rule that identifies all employees who are not department heads.
Configuration Steps
Navigate toAccess Management from the main menu.
Select the groupinghttp://mega.eadm.no .
Click Edit.
Under the column labeled Receives automatic permission, add the rules you created.
Click Save to activate the automatic assignment.
